The Office of Information Technology’s Radio Service is seeking an Information System Support Specialist to perform the duties of Installation and provide professional service in Radio Communications and Operations. Join us in maintaining the highest standards in our program to support the daily vehicle UPFIT operation.
The Radio Services team supports a number of State of Maine agencies with two-way radio communications, as well as designs, specification of emergency equipment, and builds for the communication systems used in the State of Maine’s Public Safety vehicles. You will work with a dynamic team of highly-talented staff, providing support for all daily operations relating to high quality radio services.
ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:
The prospective Information System Support Specialist (Installation/Service Technician) will be responsible for technical services in daily operations and UPFIT of Public Safety vehicles. Work is performed under limited supervision.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
You will have an opportunity to participate in and learn all phases of support, design, and specifications to build of a number of state Public Safety vehicles. You will be exposed to a number of different platforms and be able to learn skills that are multifaceted – capable of facing different challenges every day. This position is located in Augusta.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will be a member of a team providing support for a number of State of Maine agencies, including Department of Public Safety, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Department of Marine Resources, Department of Conservation, Corrections, Department of Transportation – just to mention a few. This is exciting work that supports those who are outreaching to the community serving our citizens
Preference will be given to individuals with three or more years of building communication equipment for Public Safety vehicles. Experience with the State agency vehicles that we work with will also be considered.
Three (3) years’ experience which demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot computer problems (hardware and/or software) -OR- an Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in computer information systems or a directly related field and one (1) year experience which demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot computer problems (hardware and/or software) -OR- a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in computer information systems or a directly related field.

*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus
The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 15.85% of salary for BU positions. The value of State-paid Dental Insurance: $13.13 biweekly. The value* of State-paid Health Insurance:
- Level 1: 100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing): $415.11 biweekly
- Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%): $394.35 biweekly
- Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%): $373.60 biweekly
- Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $352.84 biweekly
*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
