The Office of Information Technology’s Radio Service is seeking a Senior Information System Support Specialist to join us in Maintaining Systems in our daily operation from an advanced technical perspective.
The Radio Services Team supports a number of State of Maine Agencies with Two-Way radio communications as well as maintains the MSCommNet P25 VHF Digital Trunked Radio System. You will work with a dynamic team of highly talented staff providing support for all daily operations. Work may involve frequent communications with users, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment is critical to this role.
ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:
Senior Information System Support Specialists are responsible for Advanced Technical Services in daily operations and maintenance of the statewide radio system. Work is performed under limited supervision.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
You will have an opportunity to participate in all phases of support and maintenance of a number of communications elements. You will be exposed to a number of different communications platforms, facing different challenges every day. This position is located in Augusta.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will be a member of a team providing support for a number of State of Maine agencies, including Department of Public Safety, Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Department of Marine Resources, Department of Conservation, Corrections, and the Department of Transportation to mention a few. You will be conducting analysis and working collaboratively in resolving issues within these Agencies, facilitating projects and more.
Note – while experience will be considered, you do not need to have direct experience working with Radio Services team to be considered for this position. You do need to be passionate about Communications and providing excellent customer service.
Eight (8) Years’ experience performing systems administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment – OR – an Associate’s Degree in computer Information systems or directly related field and six (6) years’ experience performing systems administration functions in a LAN/WAN environment –OR- a Bachelors Degree in computer information systems or directly related field and four (4) years’ experience performing systems administration
Preference will be given to candidates With Experience on P25 trunked/networked communications systems. Further experience with F.C.C. licensing and communications shop management best practices is a plus.

SALARY: CODE: 0929 PAY GRADE: 26 SALARY: $48,900.80 – 66,372.80 annually*
*Includes a 15% recruitment and retention salary adjustment and eligibility for a 5% annual training bonus
The value of State’s share of Employee’s Retirement: 15.85% of salary for BU positions. The value of State-paid Dental Insurance: $13.13 biweekly. The value* of State-paid Health Insurance:
- Level 1: 100% State Contribution (employee pays nothing): $415.11 biweekly
- Level 2: 95% State Contribution (employee pays 5%): $394.35 biweekly
- Level 3: 90% State Contribution (employee pays 10%): $373.60 biweekly
- Level 4: 85% State Contribution (employee pays 15%): $352.84 biweekly
*The level of the actual value of state paid Health Insurance will be based on the employee’s wage rate and status with regard to the health credit premium program.
